use of dataSource element "group"

the more i use ComboBox the more amazed i am as i continue to learn how powerful this is.
according to the documentation:

“The dataSource can be an array of strings/numbers or objects where the attributes represent the properties of a List Item. For example label, value, group. “

are there any examples available where i can see how/where “group” is utilized?
