Pipe <smart-pipe>
Pipe displays a section of process line on a mimic diagram.
Accessibility Attributes
A Pipe is a section of process line between two symbols on a mimic. The meaning of a diagram is in the equipment at either end of the line, so the pipe is decorative and does not appear in the accessibility tree.
The following ARIA attributes are used inside the Pipe:
- role="presentation" - set on the pipe's container. The pipe carries no information a reader needs, a run of line between two named items is understood from the items, and announcing every segment of every run would bury the equipment in noise.
- aria-hidden="true" - set on the pipe graphic, so the SVG contributes nothing to the accessibility tree.
- aria-disabled - indicates that the pipe is disabled.
Keyboard Interaction
The Pipe is decorative, takes no keyboard focus and raises no events. If a diagram needs flow state to be available to assistive technology, put it on the equipment at either end, or expose it as text alongside the diagram, the message pack carries flowing and idle strings for that purpose.
Localization
All strings the Pipe exposes to assistive technology come from its messages property, so they can be provided in the user's language. Set locale to select a language and add a language through messages. Assigning messages replaces the whole object, so include the existing languages when adding one: el.messages = Object.assign({}, el.messages, { de: pack }); If the built-in en pack is dropped, switching back to English shows raw message keys.
The Pipe uses the following message keys:
- flowing
- idle
- pipeLabel
German, French, Spanish and Chinese packs are included in the Smart.Industrial package. Strings that are also exposed as properties default to empty and fall back to the pack, so the default text stays translatable while an explicit property value takes precedence.
